Eating Lucky Charms at No Idea at 7 a.m.
OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!
No Idea Tavern opened at 6 a.m. today, with a complimentary cereal bar and one-cent Guinness drafts (as long as you bought the $5 plastic cup).
While Editor Tim frowns on pre-work drinking, he couldn't keep me from my free breakfast.
Muhahaha!
By my informal tally, there were about 15 folks drinking cheapcheapcheap Guinness drafts -- most from the suburbs, I hear.
Silly suburbanites, always after me Lucky Charms ...
I spotted No Idea owner Jason O'Zink behind the bar (surprise, surprise), pouring beers. He looked cheery, given the hour. Come this afternoon, we'll see if he's still so upbeat.
Since I couldn't drink anything, I decided to buy one of the other folks a beer. I set a shiny penny on the bar -- and a nickel tip.
"Wow, that's like, a 500 percent tip," O'Zink dead-panned.
What can I say? I was feeling flush.

You know, there are certain bars in town that open that early every day.
I thought you newsroom types had 2 happy hours every day.

@The Baltimore Chop -- I know, I actually did a nightlife column where I hit up two South Baltimore spots at 6 a.m. Drinking that early in the morning is an interesting experience, to say the least.

Still cheery Sam, but called it a morning at 10am, nice and subtle crowd when I left. Hiding in Canton now til I go around 4pm to pass. Gotta wake up early for NCAA's.

Early morning drinking is my favorite. Don't do it often, but it is pretty awesome.

I went to Don't Know at 6:15am on the Saturday before St. Patty's day last year. We had a great time but my friends and I were the only ones there for an hour. Having done it once, I'm glad to say I don't need to do it again.

Sam did you check the weather forecast? It's 70 degrees outside and was 50 this morning - Why are you dressed like Brando in "On The Waterfront"?

Status update: Séasan O'Zink still looked pretty cheery & upbeat when he left here @ about 3.30-4. He had, however, enabled the Hulk-hand, so no promises on his future state.
Good to see you, O'Zink!
