10 dishes made with beer

boh battered o'sThis assignment looks like a real gut-buster: Find, photograph and consume 10 local dishes made with beer.

Thankfully, Sun correspondent Lisa Wiseman was up to the task. Here's a link where you can see all 10 meals.

This photo is of the Boh battered O's at Hamilton Tavern. Man, those look good.

Wiseman writes:

All onion rings are edible straight out of the fryer, but when they are still crispy and crunchy after they have cooled off, that is a sign of a quality o-ring. Such is the case with the rings at Hamilton Tavern.

I'll have to try those the next time I'm up on Harford Road.

Would you kindly inform Ms. Wiseman that there are other ways of including beer in food besides beer batter and deep-frying?

Doesn't the chef at The Inn at Little Washington do some kind of scrumptious chicken BBQ grilled in a beer can? Anyone know? Hope i'm not way off base here, but i seem to remember reading about it, and wanting to taste it one day..

Amen Alexander D. Mitchell the 4th! 8 out of the 10 selected dishes were beer battered and deep fried.

Jack's Bistro does a delicious guiness braised beef and they cook their burger with a similar method.

Shouldn't this be on the Dining@Large blog? It's kind of in between. You should do a joint blog called Dining@Midnight or Large Sun.

I am eternally grateful that Langunitas Brown Sughaah is back in stores. I'm hoarding them to drink and to cook with.

Best thing every to braise beef short ribs with.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
