MTV takes over Merriweather tonight

Tonight, Merriweather Post Pavilion is playing host to its first Halloween festival, Ulalume (it's named after an Edgar Allan Poe piece).

Ulalume features performances by Paramore, AFI, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi. But the best part is the Halloween costume contest. The grand prize is $2,500 and two lawn seats to every 2010 Merriweather show. Second place is $500 and first place is $100. MTV will be on hand to tape the festival, too. Sweet!

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
