Green Cilantro is back open
Last week, when I found out that Green Cilantro was closed for repairs, I speculated the Fells Point joint could be closed indefinitely.
Turns out, I was wrong.
Earlier today, I saw a tip from commenter Heather that Green Cilantro was open for last weekend's Fells Point Fun Festival.
I called down to the bar, and found out they really were closed for repairs, according to general manager Mario Ruiz.
Green Cilantro had a gas leak, and shut down for a week to repair it and make sure there weren't any other potential problems, Ruiz said.
"It's fixed now," he said.
Welcome back, Green Cilantro!

Talking to some of the employees there, I got a lot of info about the place. I was there for a good while, just drinking and chatting with one of the bartenders. Apparently, the place was shut down because the owner (Mario Ruiz) did not pay the utility bills. Also, the Thursday that I was there, the kitchen was not open...just the bar. This has got to be weird, I did walk across the street to Brick Oven pizza and come back for some more juicy gossip.

"Closed for repairs" is (almost) always a euphemism for something else and anyone who has been around for a couple of years knows that that is just a face-saving gesture to cover for the collapse of the business for some reason. usually. usually. but not always.
Long live Xtreem Sylantro!!!!!!!!
