Checking in with Brad Paisley

brad paisley

Gooood morning Midnight Sunners! I hope you all slept well last night.

Don't know if you've seen it or not, but in today's paper, I had a profile of country music star Brad Paisley. He's performing tonight at the 1st Mariner Arena (tickets are available here).

He seems like a really smart, down to earth guy.

Usually when I've got an interview with an A-list musician, their publicist calls me, then connects me to them. Not with Paisley ...

My phone rang, I picked it up, and it was him. I told him about the publicist thing and he said:

"That's a pain in the butt. I just make phone calls."

We talked about how he likes using nostalgia in his music, and his guitar playing. If you don't know much about Paisley, he's every bit as good a guitarist as he is a songwriter. And whether or not you like pop country, you have to admit -- 10 straight No. 1 singles is impressive.

With the sad passing of some of Country music's finest guitarist over the last few years, Brad stands ready to accept the throne as the premier guitarist in Country music today. With his recent instrumental album he proved that he can ably play the guitar in any genre of music. It surprises me that to this day I still meet people who have heard Brad's music but do not realize he is the lead guitarist. The man can flat out play the guitar!

nice article! i'll bet he was fun to interview.
the man CAN play the guitar!

All I can say is WOW - what a performance.

Best Country show I've ever attended.
I am now a true Brad Paisley fan.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
