So I tried Drank ...

sam tried drank and look what happened?Drink, Drank, drunk.

Dude. I just, like, pounded a 16-ounce can of the "extreme relaxation beverage" Drank.

My roll has officially been slowed.

According to the can, I consumed 20 mg of Valerian root extract, 20 mg of rose hips extract, 2 mg of melatonin and, like, 220 calories(!).

I pounded it, too, in 15 minutes.

How was it? Sweet.

Literally -- sweet. I think my teeth just disintegrated. Maybe it's just the melatonin. I don't know ...

Just like the can, Drank is purple. It kinda tastes like purple soda/children's medicine mixed with Red Bull.

Yeah. Not really my thing.

But I do feel pretty good.

I feel really goood, acutalytll. Man, hold ohn a second. 'm gonna take a quicak nap.

Wow, so that's what a hip-hop nap looks like. Stylin'!

Nothing like a good rose hips high.

Where can you buy it? I am intrigued.

I just drank purple drank, and I'm not so happy about it.

Did anyone else get chills when they tasted drank? Did anyone else think it tasted like a grape smartie, but chalkier and with a splash of pool water? Wait...did anyone else actually drink drank?

Since my roll's been pretty slow of late (a week and a half's worth of sleep deprivation will do that to a fella) I made sure to add some momentum to it. I had a coffee and two Diet Cokes before I took the drink drank challenge. It slowed my roll, all right. Practically stopped it completely. First, the office started to sound as if I were hearing it from underwater. Then I got really cold. My boss asked me why my eyes were so droopy, and I'm positive she thought I was stoned.

Could I take a nap right now? Definitely. Would it be restful? Absolutely not! 54 grams of sugar make for pretty fitful dreams, which I imagine will have something to do with a Grimace-like creature (only more evil) moving in slow motion while talking in a deep, demonic voice: "Driiink draaank! Driiiiiink draaaaaank!"

Mark clearly has another motive. First of all drank tastes great just read the unbiased reviews all over the web. Secondly, you act like drank had terrible side effects despite admitting that you were already sleep deprived and had just mixed stimulants like coffee and soda immediately before drinking the can. It's not drank that messed you up dude it's the great idea of pounding caffeine and chasing it with sleep aids.

hey markisamoron,

work for purple drank much?

from Wikipedia:
Purple drank is a slang term for a recreational drug popular in the hip-hop community of the southern United States. Its main ingredient is prescription-strength cough syrup containing codeine and promethazine.[1] Cough syrup is typically mixed with ingredients such as Sprite soft drink and pieces of Jolly Rancher candy. The purplish hue of purple drank comes from dyes in the cough syrup.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........................

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
