Anybody know what's going on at Canton Station?
Something's strange at Canton Station (1028 S. Conkling St.), and I don't know what.
Who am I gonna call?
Them. Problem is, the line is disconnected.
I got this e-mail from Midnight Sunner Jay:
Do you know what's up with Canton Station? First they were closed for remodeling, now opening under new management? But the Canton Station/Natty Boh Lounge sign is covered up... any word on this?
Sounds like something is certainly afoot ...
I can't say I have many warm, fuzzy memories about Canton Station. Then again, I didn't hate the place, either.
I watched someone get into a verbal altercation there once, and slam the side door so hard the window popped out.
One of my coworkers said she was treated poorly by the service there once, and never went back.
"The vibe was disgusting," she said.
I wonder what's in store for the place. Anybody know?

I walked by it this morning on my way to work and there are several banners proclaiming the grand re-opening under new management for this Saturday (Sept 19).

I've only been there once for a party upstairs. Everyone on the staff was great to us, so I'm surprised to hear the negative comments.

The old owners held private parties on the second floor and they were pretty reasonable. The second floor is pretty nice. So I drove over there two weeks ago to book a party. I talked to a guy who was fixing things up. He said he was one of the new owners. To tell the truth, he was a bit of a jerk. I explained that I wanted to book a party for a Saturday for December and he basically brushed me off, like "why are you bothering me about this in September."
Alright, dude. I'll go somewhere else. Consider my business lost.
I don't have high hopes if the new ownership is that dopey.

It's hard to book parties in December. I would do it now or even earlier to get the date and place you want.

Ham, exactly. I didn't think I was early by any means. I was trying to book a party for a Saturday in December. This guys seemed clueless. Hopefully he has a working partner to handle the day to day; otherwise, I'm afraid my first impression says the place won't be run well.

For a December Saturday? Not early at all. For a new business owner that is most profitable thing you could do. Take a deposit that is cash in the bank for no work now. Ka-ching.

Yea..blowing off business in this economy doesn't make sense..do they still have that guy sitting on the roof waiting for the ravens to score a touchdown?

I was there this past Sat. for the playoff game. I used to be a big Canton Station fan. I loved their specials and thought the food and drink was very reasonable. And the staff was friendly and remembered us. That's all changed. The food was fine. The owner behind the bar found the game for me and al seemed to be going well this past Sat. That is until the new bartender/hoochies were left alone. They turned off my game; put top 40 music on the juke box; ignored us (that was the hard part because we were the only people there..) and proceded to do their own thing. (from what I could tell, that was talk about their tattoos and piercings.) We left before the game was over. I didn't see any need to buy more beers at a place I don't want to encourage. And I don't think I'll be back soon.

Seems the Canton Station is closed again?? None of the numbers work. Last I heard the "new managers" were fired.
Many people said these new managers were claiming to be "new owners".
I was never aware of Canton Station selling. So does anyone know what the deal is now? Is it open? Renovating? and who really owns Canton Station?
