Let's pick a date for the Midnight Sun Social

ooooo i like these beersOOOOOOOOOOK ladies and gents, I'd say it's about time to settle on a date for the Midnight Sun Social.

In the past, many of you have lobbied to hold the event on a Friday night. Believe me, considering how my head has felt the days after the Midnight Sun Shindig and Soiree, I agree with you.

But throwing a social on a Friday night means most of the Midnight Sunners who work in the service industry won't be able to make it. And I'd really like to get as many of them out partying as possible.

That's part of what makes these events so fun -- average joes like and you get to mingle with royalty like Queen Colleen (also known as QC -- but not to be confused with QVC).

I'm looking at some Thursdays in September and October. Let me hit you with some dates: Sept. 10 or 17 or Oct. 8, 15 or 22?

What works best for ya? Talk to me.

Oh, and I'm working on picking a venue -- either in Fells Point, Canton or Hampden. I figured we should mix it up a bit, seeing as how we've already done Federal Hill and Mount Vernon. Got any suggestions? ...

Also, I'm going to have Midnight Sun Commenter's Choice Awards made up especially for the Social. Speaking of which, it's high time I tallied the votes from the Baltimore County Best Neighborhood Bar contest. I probably should have done that last week. Oops.

I think the Social will be the last Midnight Sun event that starts with an "S." After that, I'm going to have to try out another letter. Unless, of course, we decide to call a future get-together the Midnight Sun Super Wicked Awesome Showdown or something crazy like that.

Must be really tough times for the Sun, with an ad on the front page for some adult film star appearing at Fantasies night club.

Stay classy Baltimore

Not Sept 17th!!

for purely selfish reasons (outta town)

I vote for Sept 10th.

Also on a side note, Sam have you heard of your compatriots in DC, the Going Out Gurus from the Post? Someday, you guys should hook up and have a combined Baltimore/DC meetup in between the cities. I'm still a Baltimoron at heart, but it might be interesting to combine the Baltimore/DC nightlife blogs at one meeting.

Sept. 10th would be cool, it's a short week and would be good to ease into the whole summer's over thing.

Place: how about Waterfront in Fells? They have the upstairs area that can easily be taken over by a large group.

Yes Poops. Very Classy!! Was trying to read the article about Cardin's townhall when I found myself distracted by a certain ad...
Oct 8th, I'm outta town those other dates.
Sam, I see a Dominic Sessa writing the "Fit" column in B. Any relation?

Agree: Not Sept. 17!

Personally, any of the dates work for me...but you might want to avoid September 17th, since there's an O's game at Camden Yards that night.

Sam thanks for the shout out!!!!!! I feel so honored. And FYI I'm pretty sure that Sept 17th is the Best of Baltimore Party for City Paper. I can't wait to go to the social!

sept 17th, october 8th, or october 22nd is fine by me.

thursday is the new friday anyways.

please not sept 10th...i'll be on vacation

Oct. 8th and 15th are during Baltimore Beer Week: . Do you really want to make it a beer-centric event?

I move for the other dates, if only for purely selfish reasons.

Place? You could do the upstairs lounge at Max's Taphouse....... how many folks are you anticipating? But hey, as long as it has decent beer, I'm cool with it.

ooooh. during baltimore beer week could be very cool

Sept 10th is the Ravens kickoff party downrown with Shinedown playing a free concert. It's at Power Plant Live. Please avoid that date!

All days are fine, except Sept. 10. My girlfriend has to report to federal prison, but I'll do my best to be back in town in time for the shindig after dropping her off.

any date works for me. but if i have to choose, Oct. seems better. are there any good places in hampden to have it? because that would be awesome.

Not Sept. 10th! Its the first game of the NFL season!

Any further progress to report?
