I'm let down by this game. This isn't a game, it's a scrimmage.
Neither team is playing their starters.

Emerald Tavern in Parkville. GREAT soccer bar in the burbs...

it's just a "friendly". i am listening to it from my back garden in lovely downtown pigtown.

I'm going to the game....I seem to remember a Chelsea flag outfrount of No Idea last Fall?? I was planning on stopping by there for a Stella (wifebeater) on my walk to the match

When I was in Pratt St Ale House last week, they had a poster with various specials for the match.

I'll be watching from the lower level seats with my face painted and towel on shoulders!

Manhattan Grill in Perry Hall is a great place to watch soccer. i have been there for champions league, premier league, and la liga games recently. i know alot of their regulars are going to the game but it is always a fun spot to watch futbol.

Ryan's Daughter and the Abbey Burger Bistro seem pretty soccer friendly, they'll probably have it on.
Disregard what a poster said earlier about the Emerald Tavern. That place is very very very very far from "GREAT."

Luca's on Fort Avenue. Lando always has football on.
Posted by: Eutaw Street Historian | July 22, 2009 11:35 AM
I'll be watching this at home..
Can't wait to watch some REAL FOOTBALL!!!

Fado's in Annapolis... always a place to catch games during the season, certainly they'll have this one on.... but I'll be at the stadium, no tv for me!

I can't believe the field where Kyle Boller once stepped will be used for this "football". For shame.
Posted by: JTK | July 22, 2009 2:43 PM
Even the second stringers playing on Friday night have more talent in their left pinkie toes, than Kyle Boller ever had!!! Go Gooch (Oguchi Onyewu)!!!

I wonder what Little Italy will be like?
Posted by: Cj | July 22, 2009 3:28 PM
I'd rather infomercials than watch soccer. It is by far the most boring sport. Soccer is a sport for weaklings and ninnies whose mother wouldn't let them play a real man's sport like American football where you have to have testosterone in your body in order to play!
Posted by: Michael Brown | July 22, 2009 3:30 PM
I'm doing anything else
Posted by: Shankman | July 22, 2009 3:41 PM
Let us ninnies have our one day of football. We quietly put up with the rest of the year where we get to hear about how tough & smart your footballers are because they wear pads & run into each other.
Now sit down quietly with your Bud Light & try to figure out how to score more roofies for your next tailgate party in September.
PS - Slainte is the only place in town to watch football. It may be overpriced but I would rather watch a match in a place that respects the fans more than the casual, walk-up customer - not the other way round.

People in Little Italy are all gaga over whatever this is. Amicci's will definitely be showing it and they have some drink specials.Nothing like a sport that frequently ends 0-0.

I'll be watching from the stadium. Tailgating starting around 4. I'm not really a soccer fan but I expect this to be cool. It wont be like watching a game in Europe but maybe the closest thing we'll get.
Posted by: Jeremy | July 22, 2009 5:19 PM
I am going to be at the game!
Posted by: elvis | July 22, 2009 6:16 PM
I'll respectfully disagree with Rob, and his assesment of The Emerald, and it's love of football..aka soccer. During the last World Cup, the owners opened the doors at 8:30 am, and served a FREE breakfast for those who wanted to watch the games....to a standing room only crowd. The Parkville and Hamilton areas are/were a hot bed of soccer in my day (I'm 42). Come by Friday night, and if you can find a seat, and I'll buy you a pint.

LOONEY'S PUB IN CANTON..Than take their free shuttle to game and back!!
Posted by: nick creed | July 22, 2009 9:33 PM
Slainte!!! Aparently Grant Whal will be there talking about Soccer and his new book the Beckhm Experiment and guys from DC United.
Posted by: W.T. | July 22, 2009 11:31 PM
I confirm for Grant Wahl at Slainte Irish Pub tomorrow. Also DC United will give away tix for the upcoming DCU vs Real Madrid!!!!
It's gonna be huge, I love this place!
Posted by: Guillaume | July 23, 2009 10:50 AM
Slainte is awesome. I heard Grant Wahl will be there (he has lived in bmore although i'm not sure if he still does b/c i sent him an email re: a column and he asked me where to watch a game in town b/c he was moving here with the wife).
Also, I think World Soccer Daily (Sirius Radio socccer show) will be broadcasting live from Slainte too.
It will be packed, but filled to the gills with real football people.
