Bacon & Beer Happy Hour tonight at Bad Decisions
These are a few of my favorite things ... Hee hee.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Bad Decisions (1928 Fleet St.) is hosting a Bacon & Beer Happy Hour.
What does it mean?
I called owner John Reusing this afternoon, who was in the middle of frying 60 pounds of bacon as we spoke ...
Tonight and only tonight, all of the items on Bad Decisions' menu will feature bacon in some way or another, Reusing said. To make things even tastier, he will set out bowls of bacon on the bar for patrons to nibble on.
This is the third time Bad Decisions has hosted a Bacon & Beer Happy Hour, Reusing said. He only does it quarterly, he said.
"Otherwise, everyone would be dead of a heart attack by now," he said.
Rock on, John.

Bacon and beer? That sounds like a Good Decision to me.

That is a magnificent idea for a happy hour. It sounds like something that would exist only in an episode of The Simpsons. Mmmmm, bacon.

What, no bacon beer? Well, actually, there is a German Rauchbier (smoked beer) that is often described as having a smoked-bacon flavor: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier.....

I would also add the Alaskan Brewing Co.'s Smoked Porter which is also quite "bacon-y". Delicious too.

But you can GET Schlenkerla around these parts. You can't get Alaskan Smoked Porter in these parts, believe me. (You're just trying to brag about having had it. Admit it.)

Haha I don't know maybe.
Truthfully I just remember sitting at Stone's facility a few years back and hadn't had Alaskan or Aecht or any of that and was shocked by the flavor of the Alaskan, the bartender told me they called it "bacon beer" and when I saw the "bacon beer" mention here I thought I'd include it.
Its unfortunate we can't get it out here, although I enjoy that on occasion I'll see an Aecht Helles keg or Schlenkerla keg pop up at certain places. Thats a rare treat.
