What bars have poker nights?

boomersI walked by Boomer's on the Hill (1749 Belt St., pictured) the other night, and saw a sign advertising a weekly Texas Hold 'Em poker night.

It's on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. And it's free, which makes it legal. At least that's how I understand it.

Got me thinking: Which bars around town have regular poker nights?

I went to a poker night at Maggie Moore's (before it became Lucy's, 21 N. Eutaw St.). It was a nice change of pace, but not nearly as fun as gambling for real money -- even pennies or quarters.

I think there is just something about playing with real money of any type that gives it an edge.

Peter's Pour House on Mercer St., downtown. During the summer, they have poker nights on Fridays.

Della Rose's Canton has it once a week, not sure what night though..

Gin Mill has it once a week, but can't remember if it is Tuesday or Thursday.

The Hazelwood Inn has Texas Hold 'em every week. Not sure if they still have it right now, as they are renovating part of the bar.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
