My favorite "Ave Maria"
This may sound silly, but bear with me here: Bobby McFerrin's version of "Ave Maria" blows me away. Well, it's actually his version and the crowd's version. Let me explain. No, wait, I'll let Bobby explain. But I will say this -- this video never ceases to give me goosebumps.
Here's the video ...
I've seen so many videos of opera stars and rock stars singing "Ave Maria" that I'm a little sick of hearing the pristine renditions. I like that McFerrin lets the audience sing the lead. I like that you can't hear the audience too well -- it makes the recording sound ethereal.
I don't know about you, but the first time I watch the average Bobby McFerrin video, I'm amazed by his many vocal talents. Dude can sing! Dude can beatbox! Dude can whistle! All at once!
The second time I watch the average Bobby McFerrin video, I'm kinda "meh" about it. He wears thin pretty quick -- at least for me.
Not this video, though. I've watched it a few times, and it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Enjoy!
