Whatchadothisweekend?

knotty pineAhem.

Since this is a special holiday edition of Whatchadothisweekend, I'm expecting some pretty long lists here, people. I've got a pretty considerable list myself.

This past weekend I went to the Knotty Pine out in East Baltimore (which is reopen after catching fire earlier this year), as well as the Laughing Pint and the Idle Hour.

I also tried some of the Festivus Ale at Brewer's Art (yum) and hit up Tapabar (not bad) in Little Italy.

How was your weekend?

Friday night...4th annual Thanksgiving 40 Hands Event in my former hometown, Hanover, PA

Saturday...Recuperating and still sick from a lingering illness so began watching season 1 of Jericho

Sunday...Lounged around watching football

Friday: a day at Laurel Racetrack. Happy Hour sushi at Lemongrass followed by a night boozing with my buddies at Frazier's on the Avenue.

Saturday: Took in the Franz West exhibit at the BMA, then hit Brewer's and the Owl Bar at night.

Sunday: A rainy day cooking cornish hens and watching the Ravens kill the Bungals.

Cornish hens? Really?

Shuffled off to Buffalo for Niners-Bills game. Ugly weather, ugly game, fun time though.

Friday: Comatose
Saturday: Stringing Christmas lights, Baltimore Style. Eat your heart out Clark Griswold. Then out in Fed Hill. I feel like it was just me and my friends. Never seen it so empty.
Sunday: Football coma.

Too many coma cracks?

Darnit Sessa, we're in a recession! Two cornish hens cost me $6 at Superfresh, and provide eats for at least 3-4 meals if cooked properly. Tasty little buggers I must say.

Interesting. I thought the Cornish Game Hen was hunted to extinction by English gentlemen with bad teeth.

This weekend was dead out. We drove up Fort Avenue 9pm Saturday night and it looked like all the bars were EMPTY.

I concur with Fed Hill & Fort Ave being empty. Not sure if its the economy of everybody gone for the weekend, but I actually was able to get great parking.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
