Pazo's new $5 happy hour drink menu

pazoThank you, recession!

Well, I'm not entirely sure that's the reason behind Pazo's new happy hour, but that's my guess.

Here's the deal: It's called Pazo Cinco (heh) and runs from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays -- starting Jan. 2.

During Pazo Cinco, a handful (pun!) of tapas dishes and martinis are only $5 each.

Five. Five dollar. Five dollar foot longs! Oh wait, that's another deal altogether.

I'll let Elizabeth Large write about the food menu. Here's the $5 drink list ...

Kaffir Lime & Thai Chili Martini: Kaffir Lime Vodka, Coconut Water, Chili & Lemongrass & Peanut infusion, Massenez Gingembre

Cava Royale: Cava, Peach Nectar, Fresh Lime Peel

White Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Martini: White Chocolate Liqueur, Macadamia Nut Liqueur, Biscotti Liqueur

Mondello Mojito: Rum, Fresh Lemon & Lime Juices, Crushed Fresh Spearmint

Gingerbread Martini: Massenez Gingembre, Voyant Liqueur, Patron XO Café

FYI -- Pazo is at 1425 Aliceanna St. Call 410-534-7296.

Will there be space and a valet? my limo doesn't pick me up until at least 7 so I'll be cutting it close.

When I read the headline I was enthused! When I read the drink list I was grossed out. The mojito is the only nominally decent cocktail on the list and that's a summer drink. Ah, to find a smooth Manhattan or a plain ole Martini on the list...sigh

They make a decent sidecar, it's on their actual drink menu, however absent on the happy hour menu.

Ms. Large hasn't posted the food specials - could you?

Hey Greg, no problem. Here they are:

Croquetas – crispy mashed potatoes with Manchego

Grilled Pork Tenderloin Pinchos - Andalusian Spices, caramelized honey aioli

Empanadas – spiced veal & pork in pastry with salsa verde

Wood Grilled Eggplant Dip – with cucumber and sesame

Tapas-sized Pizza Costa – tomato confit, buffalo mozzarella, reggiano & basil

Thanks Sam. The food specials definitely sound tastier than the drinks

Keep in mind they don't start until Jan 2!!!

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
