I'm back!
Back on top. Back in action. Back in the high life again.
How was everyone's weekend? Some friends and I went back to the Abbey Burger Bistro, which is much improved since my last visit. The service was great, the food came quickly and we had no complaints. This city really emptied out this past weekend, which was actually kind of nice.
Also, in case you missed it, I ranked my top seven New Year's Eve options in last Thursday's paper.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.

I'd be curious to read a Sun story about the turn out to these big ticket events considering the economy and terrible shopping season.

FYI -- Lisa Shaw is not DJing at Red Maple -- she is NOT a DJ -- she is singing live. She is one of the most beloved voices in house music. I will be spinning instrumental versions of her classics and new material from her forthcoming album -- she will be doing vocals over top those instrumentals. I play from 12AM - 4AM, and Lisa will be doing 2 vocal performances during that set.
Hope to see you on the dancefloor!

Friday... Hudson Street for some Leffe on tap. First visit, not too crowded, I liked it. Saturday... went to Friends and Brewer's Art. Fuzzy memories. Sunday... several naps to recover from the whole holiday thing while watching football games and then hot tub in the evening at my buddy's parents house with some old friends.

me and a few friends will actually be at the party at Mex, i'll let you know how it goes. i walked down yesterday and bought our tickets, and the manager i spoke to said they were only selling about 250 or so. i'm not sure how close they are to being sold out, but considering how much you get for around $50-60 i'm suprised it hasn't already.

Hey Sam, I just read on Blob's Park website that if you already have a ticket for another NYE event and want to go to Blob's instead, you can present that ticket for free admission.
