A Sessa family tradition ...

For years and years (just about as far back as I can remember), my family gathers around the TV set at Christmas time and pops in this ancient video tape of A Garfield Christmas Special.

It used to come on TV every year, and at some point in the late '80s or early '90s, Dad video taped it. The commercials are hilarious! One of them is a brief infomercial about how you can't get AIDS from a toilet seat. Hee hee.

Anyhow, if you've never seen A Garfield Christmas Special, here it is ...

Yeah, and we're HOPING to continue the tradition yet another year! Hurry up and get over here, Sam!

It was on recently, I happenned upon it and watched part of it.

Presents under the tree.....don't know about the award winning gravy, but let's get it a shot! You'll be home for Christmas?

OMG. I had a copy of this on VHS, followed by "A Claymation Christmas" which is also pure awesomeness (the Walrus ice dance and the California Raisens rendition of Rudolph are especially awesome).

My VHS copy had the best adds: KFC, Channel 11 News with a svelt Rod Daniels, the Haircuttery song, an add for a Rockin' Christmas --the announcers' lineup was the best "The Judds, Sting, Run DMC, John Cougar Mellenchamp, and a special appearance by Santa Claus,"-- My First Sony, a McDonald's add about "Hardnosed Mrs. Hatcher", Juicy Fruit snacks with the giant dinosaur and the talking tree....

I'm going to go cry now

i like the garfield halloween with lou rawls on vocals. that's good stuff.

the gf has me watching emmet otter's jugband christmas this year.

we evidently taped the same show GMan. that's the same lineup we have that Sam is reffering to.

Here we go a waffling ...

Nothing says Christmas more than a big plate of hot, syrupy waffles!

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
