Justin Timberlake spotted at Power Plant Live

Justin TimberlakeJustin Timberlake was in town Monday for a tour of Power Plant Live, sources tell me.

Not much is open at Power Plant Live on Mondays, which makes me wonder why he dropped by.

Maybe he's thinking about making an investment in the entertainment district, or doing a free show there. Maybe he will bring sexy back to Power Plant Live. I'm not sure.

I'm also not sure how long he stayed or what time of day he was there. I just know he was there.

"He liked what he saw," one source told me.

Sorry to be so vague. But celebrity sightings -- especially pop royalty like Timberlake -- are a rare thing in Baltimore.

If anybody knows anything else about this, please dish.

If you heard it from anyone at the Cordish company, it's most likely a lie.

I heard from a contact in the Cordish offices downtown that he was there for mtg's on Monday. I believe she has cellpics too. You know how JT drives the ladies crazy!

There is nothing like a car full of grown men screaming WERE GOING TO SEE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! then drive away..

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I love me some JT. Sad and embarrassing....yet so true. I have a severed bobblehead and a tshirt that says "I did Justin 3 times".

And a pic of me wearing it.

Im so gonna regret this post.

Colleen, no, I'm not kidding you -- Justin Timberlake was here in Baltimore and you missed him. This was your only chance to get to meet your obsession, and you blew it.

Three times, huh? Wow. And why is the bobblehead severed?

My cats had it in for the JT bobblehead. They smashed it to the ground and its head popped off. They were not fans of Cry Me A River.

I went to golds gym in the cordish bldg monday and was told he was there in the morning shooting hoops... apparently a bunch of guys were all over him, passing the ball back to him eagerly, haha, too funny...

i cant believe this is newsworthy but its true. i walked right by him and his entourage of 12 suits after i left barnes and noble

colleen.baltimore,

I'd never heard Justin Timberlake's performance of Cry Me A River. I checked it out on YouTube
It is not the same song that I have known for years.

If curious, the most famous version of the torch song first released in 1955 was by Julie London.
A link to a 1964 performance, same arrangement:

I know it best from Mari Wilson's 1982 performance:

Iwas in Memphis a couple of yoears ago and strolling down Beale street in the middle of the afternoon, which- like Bourbon street has a a bunch of bars and no auto traffic on it.

I could see two large blacked out SUV's parked in front of BB King's club across the street. I asked one of the managers of another place what the deal was and he said Timberlake was over there eating lunch and that he was a part-owner. when I kind of shrugged indifference he followed up "... and he's with his girlfriend- Cameron Diaz"

I figured THAT was worth checking out! So I went in BB King's and ordered a beer and looked around. Sure enough, JT and Cameron Diaz were sitting at a private table on a balcony that kind overlooked the stage and bar. A couple of teenie bopper looking girls were giggling and wrangling for his attention, and Cameron was clearly put off by it. I raised my beer to her, and she flashed me that big trademark smile. Good times.

I dunno, maybe he was looking to bring a BB King club to B-more, which would be pretty cool- if he can get decent acts to play there. In my opinion he's in idiot for breaking up with Cameron Diaz...

Hey it's Baltimore's DJ JL...just wanted to comment on the Justin Timberlake topic. I met him back in 2001 in Orlando Fl @ Universal Studio's club "The Groove". They hosted a Music showcase which featured his manager Johnny Wright's upcoming artist. He was very polite and showed an outgoing personality.I did hear he was in town.Who knows maybe he is interested in coming back!

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
