Aaaaand I'M BACK!
Oh man oh man oh man. It's good to be back.
For days, Sam Sessa was stricken with sickness. Unable to work, he found solace in delicious homemade potato soup and science fiction books loaned to him by Sun Food Tsaress Elizabeth Large. (Bet you didn't know she was a Sci-Fi fan, eh?).
Then, on the sixth day, Sessa made his triumphant return.
Stay tuned, gang. I'm back in action.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.

Didn't realize you were gone.
New owner/manager/something of ex-Red Fish (Meridian 54?) was going door-to-door last night handing out menus and free appetizer coupons, trying to drum up business from the neighborhood.

JD, did you take one? Have you been inside yet? Will you go? Will I stop asking questions? Never.
Seriously though, we need some intel on this place ...

My fault, everyone. I got him sick. Sick with disease.

Yeah, she stopped by my house. Entrees look to be in the $20+ range. Menu looks good, though. They've had a sign out the last 2 weekends that they have football drink specials, but it doesn't seem to be the football-watching environment.
I haven't been in yet, but I'll check it out at some point with the girlfriend.

Sam, I tried to go there last week, but they were closed and no lights on. Weird for a weekday.

i've been to M54 twice now - once for dinner and once for drinks/apps at the bar. the food is pretty strong and the beer selection (Dogfish60, Arrogant Bastard, etc) is pretty decent too. lots of changes were done to the dining area and apparently they want to open the upstairs as well.

Dave, I'm all about the extra floor.
