Salim and Caleb Stine live
It couldn't have been better.
We took Americana singer/songwriter Caleb Stine and hip-hop MC Salim -- two musicians who'd never even heard of each other -- and forced them to write four original songs in six weeks.
Last Saturday, when they debuted the songs at a live taping of Baltimore Unsigned at The 8x10, the crowd was stunned.
It was amazing. Several audience members were in tears during the mini-set.
Caleb and Salim went from total strangers to close friends. Now, they're going to write an album together.
I'll keep you posted on their progress. Thanks again to the 100-ish people that came out.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
