Liam's Pint-Size Pub to close?

I've heard through the grapevine that Liam's Pint-Size Pub (in the basement of 911 N. Charles St.) will close in the coming months.

This is bad news, kids. Liam's is one of the best places to get a beer in Mount Vernon.

I hear Kumari, the restaurant upstairs, has new owners who want to expand into the basement.

Liam Flynn, who runs the bar, could not be reached by phone this morning.

Wait, wasn't Kumari originally on both floors, but then the owner scaled back to just the top floor? Now they're going back to two floors?

The pub's last day is July 20. They will be opening at 2pm.

Duuuuude I'm from the west coast and i have no idea what you're talking about but that sucks maaaaan

Eh, not surprising. I heard someone was stabbed right outside a few weeks ago.

It's true, the Pub is closing because the new owner of Kumari wants to take over the space. This is the first time he has run a restaurant and he thinks he can pull it off. Sad, but true. The Pub is looking for a new home. Our last day is Sunday the 20th, 2pm-2am. If you're at Artscape drop by and say bye. Oh did I say we'll have beer to go on Sunday? As far as stabbings, news to me, but this is Baltimore...

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
