Mojitos vs sangrias
Let's do a little poll.
What's better: An ice cold mojito or an ice cold sangria?
I've always thought of the mojito as the trendy upstart in the summer drink family. The punk kid, if you will. Sangria on the other hand is more of a classic drink -- at least in my mind.
Anybody know what came first?
Personally, I'd rather have a mojito. I love how crisp and refreshing they are. Sangrias are too sweet for my taste.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.

Personally - I love them both. However, I drink them on different occasions. On a really hot summer day, I find a mojito most refreshing. One a nice spring day, that is not too hot, I go for the sangria. And...once the air turns cool in the fall, a spicy sangria hits the spot. Boordy actually has a nice wine that blends well with fresh fruit.

I prefer sangria, my husband mojito. Is it a girl vs. guy thing?

Both always seemed a bit feminine to me... too sweet and fruity. I guess I'd go with sangria if I had to pick and there was nothing left to drink on earth. I'll just stick with whiskey and beer, thanks.

LOVE mojitos. I have many mint bushes specifically for that purpose.
Another good one if you like mojitos:
In large glass:
add ice, 1 shot Jack Daniels, then fill glass halfway with Simply Lemonade (people who make Simply Orange Juice), fill glass rest of the way with club soda, add sprig of fresh mint and shake. For a less fizzier version you can skip the club soda and use all lemonade. Gotta have the mint tho. YUM!

Mint is for teeth-brushing.
Wine is for church.
I prefer scotch. Scotch scotch scotch.

Depends on where you are... I can make a decent sangria pretty easy at home but a mojito can be challenging.
I do prefer mojitos...

I concur with Yum. Sangria's too sweet for hot weather, but very nice in spring/fall or on a cool(er) summer night.

had my 1st Mohito friday. Looks like Sangria wins!!! "fruitier" and more refreshing to me that a mohito. if you dont want a sweet sangria, ask them to leave the sugar out. (if its really sweet, they're adding sugar)

Good point, ss2. I think more than a few places around here add extra fruit juice or sugar, which makes their sangria too sweet for me.

I definitely prefer mojitos. But there are a lot of mediocre versions out there, which can really turn people off to the drink. It's definitely a drink that can vary tremendously in quality.
For a truly great one, head to South Beach, Miami and visit the Rose Bar inside the Delano Hotel. After that, you'll love 'em.
