Grand Central is on fire

Grand Central, the gay bar on 1001 N. Charles St., is on fire.

At 9:45 a.m. today, flames shot out of the building near the Sappho's lounge, a MS reader reported.

About three firetrucks were on the scene and more were arriving. I'll post updates when I know more.

Oh snap, I was just driving up 83 and wondering where all the smoke was coming from.

Sam - The smoke was thick and black as I watched from the 17th floor of the Alex Brown Bldg. It lasted for abouta 15 minutes until the smoke turned gray then white. It appears from this vantage point that the fire is out. Obviously, I cannot see what kind of damage has been done.

Anything to play up the "flaming" part, huh.

Oh come now Joe. That was the last thing on my mind.

it isnt that bad... i guess the flamers left a little heat behind last night  yea im a flamer so i can say that HAHA !! just glad no one was hurt and knowing the owner Don Davis, everything will be fixed cleaned and reopned by weeks end, if not sooner

no, a flaming headline for a gay bar on fire, is an applicable use of ironic humor.

for ex. if there was a sinkhole at a golf course, it be totally ok to make a "hole in one" joke.
