Monday morning roll call
And now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to share your weekend stories.
I'll start with my action-packed weekend ...
Friday, I drove up to Philly to see my favorite band from college, The New Deal (pictured).
They're a live instrumental house/electronica band from Toronto, and they played a sick midnight show at the Theatre of the Living Arts on South Street.
Also, quite randomly, I ran into Evan Weinsten from Steez Promo (who I've never met before in person) at an after party.
Saturday JMGiordano took me and Andy Shankman of Gutter Magazine on a Dundalk bar tour. More on that later.
Yesterday, I hosted Baltimore Unsigned's first live taping from The 8x10. I'll get to that in a bit.
Afterward, I went to a friend's bbq and randomly met MS poster Evan for the first time.
How was your weekend? Do anything crazy?

No Dundalk Bar crawl is complete without going to Howard’s pub!
As for my weekend….
Saturday, went over to Patterson Park to watch the bike race. Nothing Saturday night, although I did get conned into watching P.S. I Love You.
Sunday, went back out to Patterson Park to finally see the inside of the Pagoda (it’s only open on Sunday). Bertha’s for lunch and Cooper’s for dinner. Went to many bars in Fell’s including Shuckers, the Waterfront, and Max’s.
Monday, recuperated from Sunday.
2 observations for MS readers…
Seems like the bars weren’t busy for a Memorial Day weekend. Drove by Canton on Sunday and saw plenty of parking in the square.
Second observation: how irritating is it when bars disregard their specials because of a holiday? Bars normally have off night specials, but on Sunday, 2 bars basically said to me “Well, it’s the holiday so we don’t any beer specials, so enjoy our 4 dollar beer Saturday night deal.”

Friday night had a margarita at No Way Joses, then checked out the Mothers on the Alley expansion. Pretty impressive new area, hopefully will cut down on the congestion at the bar (wasn't busy when I was there, but I left before 11 p.m.)
Saturday helped my dad move in NoVa, cooked out a little bit with some friends, watched the UFC fight, then played poker (long day)
Sunday started laying down some paint on my cornhole set, saw Iron Man.
Monday grilled out with some friends.

friday, got off work early, so my wife, daughter and i went mattress shopping (much like used car shopping), Saturday went to the Chestertown Tea Party. had a good time there (plenty of food, beer and arts/crafts), Sunday, unsheathed the pool and planted the veggie garden. Monday, finished the garden, finished the pool, and cooked dinner.
Tues. went to work to catch up on some rest.

Friday: House party with grilling/drinking/rock band. Once you start playing rock band...consider your night done.
Saturday: 9 holes at the "lovely" carroll park. went to rober oliver's seafood, my thai, george's, ixia, and owl bar for our annual "martini 5k". The manager at ixia went on a total power trip (long story) even though i brought in at least 30 people to buy very expensive drinks from their establishment.
Sunday: Grilled out and had some drinks at a friends house by patterson park, went to fells for some pool (friends), beers (max's), and more pool (fletcher's)
Monday: Saw the Orioles SMOKE the yanks then hit up Indy Jones at the senator. Fun movie...but worst of the 4 imo.

Friday: visited my father's grave on the 1 year anniv. (Sam, he's ex-Sun) and then drinks at the Rusty Scupper (don't hate, it was within walking distance and we knew it wouldn't be full).
Saturday: Chores and errands
Sunday: Farmers Market, brekkie at Two Sisters on Howard & 17th, Book Thing. SoWeBo Fest, which was dull in comparison to other years and didn't quite have the band line-up as before. Still miss the Braveheart band, Clannin & Drummin.
Monday: LoPo (Locust Point) cook out and P-town one, too.

Did anyone get caught in the massive DUI checkpoint heading out on the JFX from the city Friday night? Holy Moses.
Met up with some friends in Fed Hill on Friday night and on the way back, around 12:30, there was the biggest g-d DUI stop I have ever seen on the JFX by Ruxton Road. Three lanes down to one and cops everywhere. Needless to say, I spent Saturday in jail.
I kid.
Saturday, spent all day at Pimlico, betting on the ponies. Gorgeous day. Spent Saturday night at Little Havana's, then wandering around Federal Hill, winding up at Mother's. I felt old.

My weekend started on early with Thursday trivia night at Stalking Horse. Might check that out again sometime. Saturday I did some furniture shopping, drinks at Porter's, and 8x10 for The Cheaters. Sunday had an all day/night cook out with old friends outside of Philly. Too much to eat and drink. Monday lunch in Philly and home to sleep.

I was in Charleston, SC all weekend for the 5th annual Memorial Day blowout with 16 other college friends (UNC). It was unbelievable.
Friday - Welcoming party at the beach house
Sat - Rented boats to chill on a party island all day. WAited out some late-afternoon rain at Red's (a bar you boat to), and then I cooked dinner for the crew.
Sun - Beach, bocce and kites, followed by a private dinner downtown. Then ripped it at bars for a last-night blowout.
Monday - Cleaned and then a 10 hour drive!!
Let's just say today's been a rough one.
