Waking up with Ellen Cherry

Do you have a morning song?

All through college, mine was "Colours" by Donovan.

I still think it's the best morning song ever written.

Probably because of this scene from Rules of Attraction.

But recently, I've been listening to "Something Insanely Clever" by Baltimore singer/songwriter Ellen Cherry a lot over coffee.

It's from her new album Heart Like a Lion.

Check it out.

I know a guy who, in college - woke up to 'Shambala' every single morning. Without fail. I believe his roomates suffered a series of psychotic epsiodes as a result.

I believe he used the Rockapella version of the song as well. That's not just a morning song, that's a straight jacket-enducing song.

My morning song is the dull hum of my engine as I try to stay conscious on my way to work on the road to Shambala.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
