Virgin Mobile Festival lineup announced

Rapper Kanye West, singer/songwriter Jack Johnson industrial rock outfit Nine Inch Nails and alternative rockers the Foo Fighters and Stone Temple Pilots will headline this year's Virgin Mobile Festival, organizers announced today.

The two-day festival, now in its third year, comes to Pimlico Race Course August 9-10.

About 74,000 people turned out for last year's festival, which featured the Police, Smashing Pumpkins, the Beastie Boys and nearly 40 other acts at Pimlico Race Course.

More to come.

STP? For real? I thought Velvetta Revolver or whatever that group took their place.

What a crap line-up?? Is this HFSestival all over again? Hopefully better acts to come on the undercard, but a real step down from last year.

Velvet Revolver died I think.

HFStival's were spectacular in their day. Cmon, Rage Against the Machine and STP back-to-back? That was fabulous.

STP....Hell yeah!

It's not so much a bad line-up (good one actually) as it is a disappointing one. With all the Rage Against The Machine and Muse rumours, I really got my hopes up but oh well like someone else said hopefully they can add some more nice acts to make up for it.

That STP/Rage festival was prob the best I remember from back in the day. Too be 17 drunk and a nut again.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
