Baltimore Chop is staying put

Pay no attention to the "For Sale" sign on the bookstore/live music cafe Baltimore Chop (Washington Boulevard and Emory Street).
The building may be getting some new owners, but the business isn't going anywhere, said Baltimore Chop owner Andy Rubin.
"I have a lease, as far as my place goes," he said.
Rubin's lease runs until December, when he plans to exercise his option to stay for another couple years, he said.
In case you're interested, the building is up for about $1.6 million, Rubin said.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
