Approaching 3,000 comments
A while back I predicted we'd hit 3,000 comments this month.
Looks like we're right on track.
And you know what that means.
Whoever posts the 3,000th comment gets to have one of the many toys on my desk.
Or a small stack of CDs.
Or both.
That's one hoot-nanny of a deal.
We should hit the mark in the next day or two.
As the late Rick James would say, "It's a celebration!"

Comments
Allow me to kick off the barrage of meaningless comments who's sole purpose is to win one of the treasure's on Sam's desk.

Did you hit 3000 yet?
Posted by: Greg S | April 23, 2008 3:01 PM
Shouldn't this practice instantly disqualify you from winning
Posted by: Evan | April 23, 2008 3:02 PM
To hell with it - I've got to get back to work. Congrats (in advance) on hitting 3000. That's certainly a milestone...
Posted by: Greg S | April 23, 2008 3:03 PM
...that a major league ballplayer would be proud to achieve. :) Seriously, I'm done now. Congrats Sam

Evan, I'm a man who likes to stir the pot. As such, starting a flurry of pointless comments is just as fun as a flurry of meaningful ones. So bring it on!
Posted by: Sam Sessa | April 23, 2008 3:06 PM
Just having a little fun. Besides, I believe the last MS comment milestone was reached in a similar manner...maybe not quite as obnoxious as what I just did, but still...

Just curious, when you post a comment on your own blog does it count towards the total??
Posted by: Greg S | April 23, 2008 3:16 PM
My rhymes might suck but there's no doubt
they will increase this blog's comment count
Posted by: Evan | April 23, 2008 3:17 PM
Midnight Sun, it's sometimes droll
except for the occasional Chris Sligh troll
Posted by: Evan | April 23, 2008 3:18 PM
So raise the roof, give it a go
raise ya fist and shout it: FMEB-HO
peace i'm out
Posted by: Evan | April 23, 2008 3:21 PM
Greg, I try to work the math so my comments don't count toward the total.
Posted by: Sam Sessa | April 23, 2008 3:21 PM
Looks like Evan decided not to pout,
about me inflating Sam's count,
so let's get together for a Guiness Stout
Posted by: Greg S | April 23, 2008 3:22 PM

This may be Sam's most successful post yet...bring on the free swag!
Do we know which Sun blog has the most comments overall? My guess: Military Watch.
Posted by: JTK | April 23, 2008 3:49 PM
Now don't you go and call me weak,
My peeps all know I'm a superfreak,
Lake Trout is a B-more fixture,
Ketchup & hot sauce the ideal mixture

Man I did not plan on getting into a online lyrical throwdown today, but now I'm done. Going out to enjoy the weather. I kindly ask that everyone stop posting comments until tomorrow so I can win a Simpsons toy...by the way, what ever became of Homer?
Posted by: Greg S | April 23, 2008 4:18 PM
Homer! God I totally forgot about him. I gotta get back on that. Stay tuned.

Sam,
Hootenanny?
How old are you?
I thought Hootenannys belonged in the deep dark past of the late fifties, early sixties.
You know, when Folk music* reigned, before The Beatles landed in NYC.
* i.e. when "Blowin' in the Wind" was a hit for Peter, Paul & Mary.

Evan,
How about some non-Chris promotional clips on the sly?
The Rolling Stones (1967): http://youtube.com/watch?v=uZ4oA-4dqWw
The Residents (1980?): http://youtube.com/watch?v=pYvAIqexGZE
Enjoy

hootenanny
Later consideration brought forth the notion our host does way too much clubbing for someone pushing sixty and the possibility that the word came back in fashion like "cool" did or with a different meaning like "boogie" did periodicly does.
