B-ball at Kolpers
MS reader Greg S wanted to know more about Kolpers Restaurant & Lounge in Hampden.
He writes:
A few of my friends and I enjoy going out each year for a big chunk of the opening weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament and try to change up where we go from year to year.
I stumbled across Kolper's Restaurant & Lounge on the web and was wondering if you've ever been or heard anything about it.
I live in Hampden and have asked around, but have yet to find anyone who has even heard of it, let alone been there.
Unfortunately, I haven't been there.
But Epicurious L.I.Z. reviewed it last fall.

Interesting place. Decent food, decent room. It's location, right on the Jones Falls River, hurts it from gaining the fame of it Avenue brethren. Tends to pull in the Happy Hour set and locals at night.

Thanks for the link to EL's review - at least the food sounds decent. Anyone who's been there care to comment on the set-up/layout for watching sports in the bar area?

It's a decent place for watching sports. I've gone there to watch football. They have several flat screens with satellite. The only downside is you often have to watch your game in silence if the bartender decides to turn up the volume of a different game. They have good pub grub and it's very roomy. I think the considerable road construction nearby and out of the way location aren't helping business.
