Smokeout at Mick O'Shea's

As you know, the statewide smoking ban kicks in at midnight tonight.

Smokers are gathering at Mick O'Shea's (328 N. Charles St., pictured) starting at 8 tonight to puff up a storm before the ban takes effect.

The bar will be giving away free cigars and cigarettes, and complaining about the government, said co-owner Stephanie Niehenke.

ewww

Anybody giving away free breath mints?
From February 1st onwards is going to be great for us non-smokers.
Hooray!

Thanks for the tip! And it's nice to see all of these non-smokers so excited about improved workers' health.

bearzears is a smoker.

At least your underwear won't smell like an ashtray after spending a beer's worth of time in a Baltimore bar. So now, you have the unforeseen benefit of wearing the same pair all weekend...Anyone taking bets whether the lounge at Max's will continue to be covered in nasty cigar smoke?

hmmm, didn't know the words "nasty" and "cigar smoke" could be uttered in the same sentence!!

About the blogger
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
