Shorty's has new owners

Lisa Chaplin Suit and Alex Crain are the new owners of Shorty's Martini Bar and Lounge (3301 Foster Ave., pictured) in Canton.

That will become official in the next few weeks, Suit said.

They plan to keep the musical lineup largely the same as it was under former owner Charles "DJ Feelgood" Fields.

DJs from different genres of the local electronic music scene will still spin live six or seven days a week.

"I wanted it to stay as [Fields] had started it out," Suit said.

"It's a haven -- a very chill spot."

Suit said in the coming months, they may knock down a wall or two near the back of the bar and rearrange the furniture, DJ booth and pool table to open up some space.

Shorty's will stay open during the transition.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
