Guided by Voices w/Oranges
Starting this month, Guided by Voices guitarist Doug Gillard will join the Oranges Band to gig and record, said Oranges Band guitarist and singer Roman Kuebler (pictured).
Their first gig together will be at The Ottobar Jan. 25 with the Fiery Furnaces.
Later this month, the Oranges Band will travel to New York to record their next album at Gillard's studio.
Kuebler used to play bass in the critically acclaimed rock band Spoon.
On tour with them a few years ago, he met the guys in Guided by Voices and befriended Gillard.
When a previous Oranges Band guitarist left recently, Kuebler called Gillard and invited him to play with the Oranges.
"I just had this brainstorm that maybe [Gillard] could do it," Kuebler said.
