2007's best concerts

A few days ago, Al Shipley posted his favorite shows of 2007 on the City Paper's Noise blog.

Shipley gets out to tons of concerts, so he had a lot to draw from.

But I'm actually not surprised at his No. 1 pick.

I really wish I was at that show.

Stephen & Jr Gong Marley at Rams Head Live last May was the best show I saw in town in '07. Even though I was busy bartending at the Virgin Fest, I could still appreciate the Beastie Boys' set almost as much as I did seeing them back in the early 90's.

The Detroit Cobras show at Ottobar was my favorite show of '07. Rachel Nagy's voice when on is simply amazing and the show at Ottobar she was as good as I've ever seen her.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
