We are CLOSED!
Saturday night, a couple friends and I went on a Federal Hill bar tour.
We finished at the Idle Hour (pictured), where we bought a six-pack and started to head home.
My friend Kaiser decided to run back inside for a minute, and dashed in through the side door. We tried to follow, but the bartender stopped us and told us the bar was closed.
But there are still people in there, and we just want to get our buddy, we said.
He said that wasn't an option, and closed the door.
So we waited a minute or two, and tried going in the front door. ...
I've never seen a bartender jump a bar before, let alone to slam the door in the face of longtime customers.
And I like the Idle Hour a lot.
But I'm pretty miffed at that.

well, so what happened to kaiser? did they sell him into slavery? did they do what was popular in the 18th century over there and knock him over the head and "rent" him to some farmer on the eastern shore for the season? come on, inquiring minds need to know!!!! :D

They turned the dogs loose on Kaiser.
I'm afraid he's lost forever.
There is a candlelight vigil tomorrow night.
Donations can be made to the Kaiser Remembrance Beer Foundation, care of Sam Sessa, Baltimore Sun.

I can understand feeling a little slighted by the bartender - BUT (and this a huge BUT) he did tell you that entry was not an option - to which you responded by trying to sneak in through a different door. There is no better way to get on a bartender's s**tlist than to disobey his/her instructions at closing time. That is like trying to sneak out an open container or hiding your drink when he/she demands that all drinks handed in. I'm sorry to say it, but you were in the wrong.
