Fab Five Friday sneak peek

I'll tell you right now which two "Irish" bars aren't going to be on tomorrow's list of the best Irish pubs.

An Poitin Stil in Timonium (pictured)

Yes, I'm leaving the Stil off my list. Why? Because an authentic Irish pub doesn't have to say it's an authentic Irish pub.

And I doubt very seriously if any pubs in Ireland have so many Irish posters, artifacts and tchotches all over the place. The Stil is out.

The James Joyce Pub on President Street in Harbor East.

Plastic, plastic, plastic. James Joyce needs a few more years of 'wipe, don't scrub' to make this list.

I take it from your comments above that you have never been to a Pub in Ireland (or much less Ireland). So, what makes you an authority on what is the best Irish Bar/Pub?

McGoverns, in Canton.

Really? I'm not the biggest fan of the Stil, but banning it for trying too hard to be authentic seems ridiculous. You seem to be overthinking this, with arbitrary standards.

Mr. Lemmings! See you at the next party.
