Buffy the Sing-A-Long shut down

A few months ago, I wrote a story for LIVE on the Buffy Sing-A-Long.

It's an interactive touring show where fans of the TV show dress up, go to a theater and sing-a-long while they play scenes from the musical episode, "Once More With Feeling."

Got word today -- it was suddenly canceled when Fox decided to pull all its shows from theatrical exhibition.

Apparently, the network was not prepared to have its TV shows screened in theaters, and they're shutting Buffy down until they can get all the nitty gritty stuff figured out (residual payments, union fees, etc.).

"As far as The Buffy Musical goes, we were working to be in total compliance with everyone’s rules and wishes," wrote founder Clinton McClung in an e-mail.

"We were always striving to make this official, and we even had Joss Whedon’s blessing at the L.A. Film Festival. To still be unceremoniously cut off is, well, it’s a bit of a downer."
