Tracy's Comedy Club now Magooby's

Baltimore needs more comedy clubs in the worst way.

Right now, the only serious comedy club in this city is the Comedy Factory downtown. Last week, I heard about a new club called Magooby's Joke House taking over where Tracy's Comedy Club used to be.

Thursday's LIVE section has a story about Magooby's, which opens this weekend. But in the meantime, news columnist Dan Rodricks has the details.

I have been to Tracy's club a few times once they had this horrible guy that was trying to hypotise the crowd. Between that and the unusual odor that hit me as I came down the stairs helped me to decide not to go back. I hope the new owners have done some cleaning and renovations to make it more inviting.

Joke House? What a dumb name.

We will become non smoking as of October 15th... We have "cleaned up" the place and made it look like a comedy club more than it did before. Go to and you can read more about the new club... as for the name, SORRY! We kinda like it. (smile)
