Redwood Trust re-opens

The Redwood Trust on Calvert and Redwood Streets, is hosting shows again.

When it closed in 2004, the owner claimed its 2 a.m. closing time did the club in. But Trust's image also took a hit year earlier after two of its promoters were killed in a shooting in Fells Point.

I don't have much information about the new owners yet, but I got an e-mail about a "closing party" happening there this Saturday night.

According to the e-mail and this site, the club will re-open Sept. 22 as Stadio (no, that's not a typo). Looks like the new owners are planning to bring in big name DJs from around the country to spin there.

I'm trying to get a hold of the new owners today. I'll post an update as soon as I hear more.

About Sam Sessa
I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.
