The perfect summer drink?
I'm calling local bars and asking them to make me the perfect summer drink for a LIVE story. Any suggestions? Who should I call?
It can be specialty drinks the bar already makes, or a new concoction they've just created. I'm going to run the recipes in next week's LIVE.
And no, mojitos don't count.
However, I did hear from Mojito Steve that Vin in Towson makes a pretty delicious mojito. Anybody had it there? It costs $10. That sounds like a lot to me, but sometimes you've gotta pay top dollar if you want top quality.

I've been The Baltimore Sun's nightlife and local entertainment reporter for a couple years, and it's surprising how much the scene has grown in that time. Most of Baltimore's bars and clubs are unpretentious places with fairly cheap drinks and plenty of character. I like dancing and think this city needs more clubs, but nothing beats having a cold, locally brewed beer with friends in a comfortably full corner bar.

Sam-I know mojitos don't count BUT...Woody's Rum Shack in Fells Point has a Mango Mojito that truly is the perfect summer drink!

perhaps you can also find a low-calorie summer drink, since a lot of them tend to be very calorific frozen drinks that are yummy but not so good when you have to wear a bikini!

The Crawford...Named After Joan.
Over Ice
3 parts Grey Goose Pear Vodka
1 Part Ginger ale
Splash of Cranberry (for color, not taste)
Garnish with a lime wedge on a wire hanger. Great for chopping down trees and getting mad at the dirt

So this is a drink you have to make yourself, but it is divine--it's called a Southside, and if you call the Greenspring Country Club they will make up the mix for you and then you add your own liquor. It is uniquely Baltimore! It's a lemony, minty kind of mix that is perfect for summer.

I like the ginger beer mojito at holy frijoles. it's a bit cheaper, too, i think.

Orange crush at the new Ryleigh's is pretty smashin'!

That would have to be a tiny wire hanger, Steve.
Bobby, I'm willing to take my chances. Lay it on me!
Hey Don, check out Thursday's LIVE section. At your suggestion, I went ahead and included the mojito at Woody's.
Kramden, I called Ivars too. Capt. Larry's specialty is also in Thursday's LIVE.
Thanks guys!
