Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond to honor Tisdale today
Ten thousand people are expected to attend the homegoing of former NBA player and musician Wayman Tisdale at the BOK Center, Tulsa, Okla., according to Tulsa World.
Following that service, a group of his friends, including gospel artists Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond, will participate in a 7 p.m. performance at the Jazz Depot to honor Tisdale's life.
Sapp and Hammond, formerly of Commission, are on a list of performers for the program, which also includes jazz artists Dave Koz, Marcus Miller, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Najee and more.
Sapp and Tisdale were longtime friends, according to Sapp's publicist Kimberly Norsworthy.
Sapp worked with Tisdale on "Grateful," which appeared on the jazz and gospel artist's project, Rebound.

Tisdale, according to the Tulsa World, was Oklahoma's greatest basketball player — a three-time All-American at Oklahoma University, an Olympic gold medalist, and a 12-year NBA forward.
During his career, he played with the Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings.
