Easter spirit in music and faith

Good Friday is a day full of remembrances that includes gospel music and sermons on the death of Jesus Christ.

And on Sunday, there's the big celebration -- not Easter, but what people of faith call "Resurrection Sunday.''

It is on this day sacred hymns such as "He Arose,'' "Christ the Lord has Risen Today,'' "He Lives!,'' "Crown Him'' and "Because He Lives" are given a renewed life, brought out of the hymnal for the classic praise and worship with the musical flavor provided by a Hammond organ or piano and the entire church singing in unison.

Here's a Boston Globe column that speaks of the "Hope of Easter.''

Listen to gospel radio station WCAO Heaven 600 for Baltimore area services tonight and Sunday.
