Deaths in the gospel music community

Rev. Claude Jeter, an original member of the renowned Swan Silvertones, died Tuesday.
Jeter, who lived in New York, was 94. Services have not been announced. Jeter led one of the group's popular songs "Oh Mary Don't You Weep.''

Tommy Ellison, lead singer of the Singing Stars, died over the weekend. A public viewing will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia, S.C. Ellison started as a background singer in the late 1950s, but later formed the Five Singing Stars.

Also, Rogina Thomas of the Mississippi Mass Choir died last month.
