An MLK birthday to remember with gospel of struggle
How can you tell the history of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the struggle of African-American people without the sound of faith-based music?
You can't.
So the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Soulful Symphony, Baltimore City College Choir and a host of talent will tell the story with music, some original scores and spirituals heard throughout the movement that gave birth to the Civil Rights movement.
Gospel artist Richard Smallwood will also perform. Former NAACP president Kweisi Mfume will recite some of the former Civil Rights leader's stirring speeches with orchestral accompaniment.
See the performances tonight and tomorrow at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore and The Music Center at Strathmore, respectively, at 8 p.m.

I can tell that this is not the first time you write about this topic. Why have you chosen it again?
