Richard Smallwood performs again at DNC Thursday

Richard Smallwood, who performed earlier this week at the DNC interfaith service, will once again take centerstage when he performs Thursday morning at the Unity Prayer breakfast in Denver.

Smallwood said earler this week he didn't know exactly what the songs would be but that it would be a medley of some familiar spirituals that reflect the time. "We Shall Overcome" is just one of the many spirituals that during the Civil Rights movement, was sung at most gatherings.

Smallwood will perform 7 a.m. at the Unity Prayer Breakfast in the Colorado Convention Center’s Korbell Ballroom. He will be joined by Martin Luther King III, Bernice King, Alfre Woodard, Blair Underwood, the Rev. Joe Lowery, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Congressman John Lewis, who will speak at the event that commemorates the 45th anniversary of the March on Washington and the "I Have A Dream Speech" by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

This event comes hours before Barack Obama accepts the Democratic party nomination to run in the November presidential election against John McCain.
