American Gospel.tv returns this weekend looking for a Baltimore talent that will be one of several opening acts for headliner Martha Munizzi at Powerfest in Orlando later this year.

Louis Thomas, president of American Gospel and Powerfest, said 35 semi-finalists here will take the stage at the Crowne Plaza in Timonium on Saturday. The field will be narrowed down to three finalists who will compete for the top prize of winning an all expense trip to Orlando, including spending money, and the opportunity to open the show. Thomas has taken his American-Idol like show case to Orlando (its base), Jacksonville, Charlotte, Atlanta and Baltimore to find acts of all kinds -- from gospel musicians to Christian comedians, from gospel dancers to mimes. A winner from each area will perform on Oct. 11 at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

Munizzi, a judge on Gospel Music Channel's Gospel Dream 2008, was recently here in the Baltimore-Washington area for the Grammy Salute to Gospel. She recently released her latest CD, Change The World.
