Dining@Large cameraman on CBS' 'The Good Wife'

GrahamPhillips.jpgI was catching up on my TV recordings last night and came upon a familiar face.

I was watching CBS's new show "The Good Wife." Who should pop up on the screen but Graham Phillips,  Amanda's brother.  He was the cameraman and editor of her first video for Dining@Large, the one for Sugar Week on how to make a black bottom pie. Graham's resume has grown since we saw him here last: He plays Julianna Margulies' son, Zach, on the show.

Somehow I feel the blog should get credit, a sort of we knew him when, but I'm not sure why.

Secret foodie: Aerosmith's Joe Perry

joeperryapphoto.JPG

Nightlife reporter Sam Sessa ended up with a food story recently without meaning to, or anyway a food snippet, and he kindly shared it with me rather than post it on Midnight Sun. Here's Sam. EL

A couple of weeks ago, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry -- buff chest, long locks and all -- stopped by Baltimore to promote his new solo album. ...

'Hangover' star eats (and drinks) at Brewer's Art

TheHangover.jpgI hear from turkeybone that last night Zach Galifianakis (left), who starred in "The Hangover," arrived at the Brewer's Art with some friends for dinner after 10 p.m. They had beers, appetizers and dinner. (Galifianakis told the general manager he really enjoyed the carnitas). They skipped dessert.

No word on what Galifianakis was doing in town.

"I never saw the movie, but the rest of the staff was making a big deal about it... celebrity watch for the younger crowd I suppose, hehe," turkeybone wrote.

Chazz Palminteri spotted at Aldo's

ChazzPalminteri.JPG

You know you love my Celebrity Watch feature. Don't pretend you don't. You know it's fun to find out what celebs eat when they visit local restaurants.

The latest is actor Chazz Palminteri, who was last in Baltimore this spring starring in "A Bronx Tale" at the Hippodrome.

I hear that this week Palminteri had dinner several times at Aldo's in Little Italy, enjoying pastas like pappardelle with wild boar ragu and orecchiette, broccoli raab, and mild Italian sausage. He also had the chicken Milanese, and sauteed sweet peppers and potatoes as an appetizer.

What's interesting is the reason Palminteri is in town. He met Sergio Vitale of Aldo's when he was here in the spring and kept in touch. He's returned, says my source, "to discuss possible restaurant concepts with the folks at Aldo’s."

Or maybe it's just an excuse to eat some more good pasta.

Yankees down steaks at Sullivan's

DerekJeter.JPGCelebrity sighting alert: New York Yankees Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada had "Cowboy Ribeyes," lobster tails and margaritas at Sullivan’s Steakhouse after their 5-to-1 victory over the Orioles last night.

I wonder if Baltimore fans leave them alone or boo and hiss when they're seen around town.

Baltimore Shaq attack!

Midnight Sun Sam's former roommate (I almost said roommate; I forgot he's married now) came up with a celebrity spotting for us at the Red Star Friday night. Check out Sam's post about it.

Latest details on the King of Jordan breakfast

As promised, more details. I asked Miss Shirley's PR person if she could find out any more for us about the King of Jordan's visit yesterday. Here's what she e-mailed me:

He came in with about 8-10 people - associates. They ate omelets, Chocolate chip waffles, pancakes, and fruit. Not sure what he ate though. Came in at 8 a.m. and was referred to Miss Shirley's from the hotel they were staying in.

His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan eats at Miss Shirley's

MissShirleysKing.jpgI hear that His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan ate at Miss Shirley's in the Inner Harbor yesterday. I haven't been able to get any details on just what he ate yet.

I suppose he was just passing through Baltimore; he meets with President Obama tomorrow at the White House.

This tidbit raises so many questions. I wonder how he ended up at Miss Shirley's?

Did he say he wanted to go to the National Aquarium and then try a real American breakfast? Who took him? Did the restaurant give him the best seat in the house?

If I find out more, I'll let you know.

Renee at Donna's

reneez.jpg

I hear that Renée Zellweger was spotted at Donna's at Cross Keys over the weekend. She sat at the bar to eat her beet salad, and ordered a feta salad to go.

What I can't figure out is why she ended up at that particular Donna's. She can't be staying at the Cross Keys hotel, can she?  My One and Only, her movie, is being shot in and around Baltimore through July.

Sorry, guys, I know it's immature of me; but I like celebrity sightings. And I like knowing what they order when they eat at a local restaurant.

Celebrity watch

KymaSalad.JPG

Columnist Susan Reimer, who's my Annapolis correspondent, told me the owner of Kyma told her that he had had two celebs eating (separately) in his restaurant lately. One was Jon Stewart of the Daily Show and his family. The other was Lavar Arrington, the ex-Washington Redskin.

I love celebrity sightings. Oh God, it's embarrassing, but I can't help it. And stop sneering. You know you do, too. You just won't admit it.

I'm having serious withdrawal from not being in LA, where they happened all the time. Here were the best ones: ...
