The Top 50 concludes -- and next week's double-wide top 10 ten Tuesday

prime ribWell, here it is, the conclusion of the Top 50 photo-gallery countdown of Baltimore's Best Restaurants.

You'll see, just below the top 10 photos, a place where readers are now voting on what they think the top restaurant is. Here is the printable list.

Next Tuesday, Dining@Large will have two top 10 lists:

  • The Top 10 outrages on the 50 Best Restaurants list, as determined by the vehemence of responses on and off this blog.

  • The Top 10 regrets (or defenses) of my own.

Absolutely, respond and discuss here. But also consider joining me in a Live Chat today at 1 p.m. (Although you can start submitting questions now).

Richard, thanks for the printable list. I've only been to about half of these, so clearly I have a lot of work to do, and your checklist just made that easier!

I didn't quite understand your slighting remark about Cinghiale, btw--it is, in our experience, one of the most satisfying places on your list for a really fine meal. We go to the Enoteca for a casual night out or to the Osteria for a very special occasion. Our only objection is to the noise level.

On the whole I think Da Mimmos is now a net negative on the dining scene, a stain. So, no I don't think it should be on the list. Even if the food and service were still good, I cannot bear the tacky South Philly-style photos of the owners with C list celebutards. Hey, it's C. Thomas Howell with Mimmo's kid.

The bar serves wine from airline bottles. The drink prices are a kidney punch. SO MANY people leave there and complain about it and feel abused. A $14 gin and tonic with non-premium gin? Vaffanculo!

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'entrate.

I feel like Da Mimmos is on there for sentimental reasons. They have always capitalized on the personal appeal of Chef Mimmo, but he has been gone for a long time. Do they still have that heartbreaking giant photo of Mini-Mimmo on their parking lot sign?

I understand the historical and emotional sway of the place but by that same logic, you should have included Boccaccio.

Thank you.
