27 hours left in Mobbies voting

mobbiesVoting in the Mobbies ends tomorrow at 5 p.m. The competition to determine Maryland's best bloggers includes a "Foodie" category with 39  nominees.

This is the seventh group of those nominees - we' re taking them 5 at a time, in alphabetical order. The first four posts are here.

The bloggers themselves are welcome to dilate upon their blogging philosophy and otherwise promote themselves.

For this series of posts I am only accepting positive (or neutral comments.) If there is an issue or concern you have about a particular blog you'd like to express, please email me at:

Sweet Mary -- Johnson & Wales grad Mary Lynn Allen, a.k.a. Sweet Mary, says, "I blog and bake in Baltimore one of the quirkiest cities in the whole USA, which makes sense because, though grounded and practical, I tend to fit right in. taming the tart -- The blogger, Rachel is "a native Baltimorean, stubborn only child, cusp-rising Sagittarius, and hypocritical pescetarian who likes yoga, poem, and food. And wine. Also: vokda." Taste of Baltimore -- Nakiya's blog is about "enjoying the taste of Baltimore's food, wine, and overall deliciousness." Her recent posts have been on homemade Clif Nectar Bars and Weber's Farm Home Recipe Apple Butter.

Tasty Trix -- Trix's recent posts on here "culinary comforts" blog have been on beans and cornbread and eating her way through a Russian Orthodox Church festival.

Is that still going on? I can't believe that my Twitter feed @OwlMeatGravy is currently the number 2 most hated twitter feed. I thought this would be my year. Plus, my blog I Hate Crab Cakes is in last place. (It's not a foodie blog because it's mostly photoshopped images of people eating crab cakes, like Stalin, Pol Pot, Charles Manson, Celine Dion, Jeffrey Daumer, and Hugh Jackman.)

I guess I should go vote for Dining@Large, but the site won't let me use my Opera browser and then I'd have to open Internet Explorer and that's a whole thing. [sigh]

Yay! Hi everyone!

Richard, did you skip over Strawberries in Paris???

I think The Strawbs in Paris [who got that ref?] is a Charm City Current blog, whatever that is. I'm not being snarky at all. I really can't figure out what CCC is. I went to a party they threw for themselves and still don't know. Is it affiliated/owned by the Sun, b, or Trib? Unknown.

Anyway, don't worry the Strawbs, CCC is giving itself an award like the Sun blogs are and SiP is in first place. My guess is that since they have some Trib affiliation they are "ghettoized" so as to not crush the little peeps.

Thanks for the shoutout Dahlink!

And the Strawbs? The band?

I maintain a wordpress and CCC blog. Same content, just on two different sites! I tried to be part of the Foodie and CCC categories, but the CCC trumped the Foodie. So there I rest, and lucky for me, cause the other Foodie blogs would surely beat me out!

And I think the CCC is owned/operated by the Baltimore Sun media group.

Strawbs? I vaguely remember seeing the band name but never heard them. Apparently they sing songs about belonging to unions, rock Brit-fros, and wear freaky-styley yellow leisure suits. Whew, I thought I had missed an important band.

Watch this, some English codger's Google Alerts just went wild.

Come on Gorelick, are you running out of ideas already?

These hourly mobbie updates are getting a little superfluous.

Thanks for mentioning Sweet Mary....I appreciate it!

Thanks to everyone who voted for me in the Nobbies. Oh wait, that's the one for narcissists, oh, yeah, that works. Now where's my golden statue of myself?
