Monday morning quaterbacking -- Robert Morris Inn
I struggled mightily to keep my review of the revived Robert Morris Inn from turning into a travel article. I'm not sure I succeeded. A big part of what made the evening so enjoyable was in the getting there and the being there. I don't feel so bad about not choosing the fine-dining option. It's there if you want it, and at not much of a premium compared to the casual options in the tavern and taproom.

I enjoyed the review. I am in Oxford often but have never eaten there. i always sort of assumed it was too fancy-schmantzy for my budget. But I checked into that special and can't believe that price! It would be an excellent getaway...now, if only I could find someone to watch my kid for two nights...guess that's not in your job description!

Of the Robert Morris Inn you wrote that the grilled filet of beef, Dauphinoise potatoes with mushrooms and nutmeg spinach was better than it sounded as if it was chancey and avant garde. These are classic preparations and taste, and sound, wonderful?

Gee Richard, it's a shame you didn't like the place (grin)! We celebrated a wedding anniversary there some years ago before it was re-done. Our rooms-- snug bedroom, teensy sitting room and bathroom--were wonderfully quaint, but the restaurant was just a tad above average. Methinks we'll have to give it another try.
