Mari Luna for the Robert Oliver spot?

oliverCarla Luna confirmed that the her family, owners of Pikesville's everlastingly popular Mari Luna Mexican Grill and Latin Grill, is active pursuing the strategic restaurant space --most recently Robert Oliver Seafood -- across from Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Should it happen, the restaurant, which will be named Mari Luna Mexican Bistro, would open in early 2011.

Hooray! Love Mari Luna, and having it in walking distance would be the perfect excuse to order dessert...

Apparently I love it so much I am repeating myself. Sorry.

Would be a great choice. We love Mari Luna and the Latin Grill and also eating close by to the Meyerhoff!

I have to admit - I've previously bemoaned the relative absence of good Mexican and Latin in Mt. Vernon. This is welcome news.

I hope they pull this off. Mt. Vernon needs a quality tex/mex place, and I love their other two locations... Maybe if we can get an Opera Company back in town there would be more events in the myerhoff/lyric area to help support the customer base.. Man it would be super cool to have a Mari Luna in walking distance!!! YAY Mari Luna!!!!

I agree El G, it is surprising that Mt Vernon has a dearth of Mexican/Latin. For a while there was Tampico. They started out good, but then they went downhill. Mari Luna will probably do much better.

I couldn't be happier about this. Both of the existing Mari Luna's are pretty incredible and I would like to see what they could do with a serious space like this.

Considering the current negotiations, and tonight's meeting, it sounds like there will be an opera company back in place to help fill a new Mari Luna next fall. Praying for both!

Mari Luna Latin Grill is my FAVORITE restaurant. And I work at the BSO so this is great news to me. They have had some Salsa Meetup events at the Latin Grill so maybe we'll have some salsa happening in the lower lounge. Hope so!

Any updates on this and when it might open? Really looking forward to having this place in the neighborhood!
