Black-eyed Susans

I'll be at Preakness today. I'll be there for work, which means I won't be drinking lots of Black-eyed Susans. But for those of you who don't have to keep your wits about you, here's a new twist on the classic drink from Grand Cru.

yuck!

What a miserable waste of rye whiskey.

The Black Eyed Susan is no Mint Julep.

And what's up with a thirty second commercial for Jimmy Johns Subs before the video. I've never heard of that place before, and normally you don't have a thirty second commercial preceding a thirty second you-tube clip.

RoCK, it looks like the Tribune Interactive people have decreed that Sun videos must be accompanied by commercials.
I had never heard of Jimmy John's, either, but they have outposts in College Park and Columbia.

We should eliminate this horrible cocktail and reclaim the julep as Maryland's own (with RYE, of course).

We made a pitcher of the Grand Cru Black-eyed Susan's and every one of our guests loved the drink. I made the pitcher about 2 hours before folks arrived and let it chill in the fridge. I have to say it was very good.

You've got rye whiskey in the house or on the shopping list? Make a Sazerac! RoCK and I enjoy old school cocktails. RoCK also enjoys old school politics.
